Welcome to the Othello Centennial website.
We want to thank the committee members and their families, friends and the community for helping us to celebrate Othello’s Centennial. We held a two day event on May 22nd and 23rd, 2010, which turned out to be an old-fashioned celebration.
Throughout the community were posters and old fashioned decorations adorning our buildings and streets. Our community participated in a parade, which depicted wagons and push carts that were used by the settlers back in the early 1900’s. The parade on Saturday was set up to show case the early settlers; pioneers; veterans of war and vehicles; local marching bands and royalty; refurbished vehicles; Wanapum Dam foundation; equestrian entries and community members. Most of the other events were featured in Pioneer Park on Main Street. The Veteran’s of Foreign War led the opening event and Mayor Tim Wilson and Centennial Chairman Ken Caylor welcomed everyone. There were vendors; music and entertainment; speeder car rides and a street dance was held on Saturday evening. Sunday morning started out with a community worship service; vendors; music and entertainment and the Secretary of State’s office presented the Mayor with a reproduction of the City’s incorporation papers. The committee hosted a barbecue for the community, while listening to local entertainment and Grandma’s Bakery served slices of the cake that was made that depicted the first City Hall/Jail building in Othello.
Thank you Othello for a wonderful time. See you at the next centennial!
